What is Holistic Counselling?
Holistic Counselling is a type of talking therapy in which the patient attends a regular, usually weekly, session with a counsellor to talk through what is on their mind and work through their existing problems. Holistic counselling is a form of therapy that takes a spiritual perspective on life and uses a ‘whole person’ approach working with clients including their emotional, mental, psychological, physical, and spiritual/essential nature. This method is a powerful, innovative and holistic therapeutic approach that combines many paradigms, approaches, and tools. Where traditional counselling and psychotherapy focuses on psychological symptoms, holistic counselling and therapy look deeper and aim to uncover underlying causes and patterns or beliefs.
The counselling process helps clients to identify issues, concerns, or self-defeating behaviours in their lives and relationships. With the help of the counsellor, these emotions may be constructively channelled to identify causes and find resolutions. Professional counselling is a safe, confidential process that empowers individuals to make positive changes in their lives and promotes an individual’s mental and emotional health, as well as deepening their understanding of themselves and their purpose. Holistic counselling enhances self-awareness, self-esteem, and a sense of well-being, often representing the first step that people take on their journey towards a more positive, fulfilling life.
